On May 2, 2025, four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen and his partner Kelly Piquet joyfully announced the birth of their daughter, Lily.

The couple shared the news on social media, posting heartfelt photos accompanied by the caption:

“Welcome to the world, sweet Lily. Our hearts are fuller than ever – you are our greatest gift. We love you so much.”

Verstappen, 27, delayed his travel to Miami to be present for Lily’s birth in Monaco. He missed Thursday’s media obligations but arrived in Florida on Friday, ready to participate in the Grand Prix weekend.

Kelly Piquet, daughter of three-time F1 World Champion Nelson Piquet, also has a daughter, Penelope, from a previous relationship with former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat. The family resides in Monaco.

Fellow drivers extended their congratulations. Nico Hülkenberg, now joined by Verstappen as one of the few fathers on the grid, welcomed him to the “dad club” and humorously hoped Lily would be a “good sleeper.”

Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time World Champion, expressed his happiness for Verstappen, describing the birth as a “special thing.”

George Russell added: “I think we’re all professionals, but this is a personal part of your life. I guess for anyone who’s had a kid, it’s a pretty special moment. So yeah, all the best to him. As Nico says, I think for many people it probably brings things to your life. “I know what it’s like when I see my nieces and nephews – they’re not my kids, but they bring me so much joy when I spend time with them. And you’ve seen drivers in the past win championships and races who’ve got kids, so I don’t see it changing anything on his professional level.”

As Verstappen balances fatherhood with his racing career, fans and the F1 community eagerly watch how this new chapter influences his journey both on and off the track.
