Haas has confirmed Jack Doohan as one of its reserve drivers for the 2026 Formula 1 season, adding further experience to its support line-up ahead of the new regulations era.
Doohan arrives at the American team after parting ways with Alpine, where he had been part of the Enstone outfit’s driver programme for several years. The Australian served as Alpine’s reserve driver across the 2023 and 2024 seasons before earning a seven-race spell as a race driver, starting at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and continuing through the opening six rounds of the 2025 campaign.
Following that run, Doohan returned to a reserve role after Alpine opted to replace him with Franco Colapinto. His departure from the team was confirmed last month, bringing an end to his time with the Renault-backed squad.
With official pre-season testing in Bahrain approaching, Haas announced that Doohan will join Ryo Hirakawa as its reserve drivers for 2026. The move gives Haas additional depth and experience as it continues development work on its new car and prepares for a demanding season under sweeping technical changes.
“I’m thrilled to be joining TGR Haas F1 Team,” said Doohan. “It’s the ideal place to continue my Formula 1 career.
“I would like to thank the team for giving me the opportunity to grow and take on the great challenge of 2026 together. I’m eager to begin working with the team and collaborating on a successful season.”
Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu highlighted Doohan’s background and attitude as key reasons behind the decision, pointing to the value of having a reserve driver who remains motivated and race-ready.
“I’m personally very excited to have Jack join us on the team given the strength of his racing resume and of course his experience in being a reserve driver in Formula 1,” Komatsu said.
“The dedication required to remain sharp and prepared to race while getting to know how the team works and so on, it’s challenging for any driver – especially one who’s obviously still very keen to race again at this level.
“I’ve enjoyed getting to know Jack and we’re looking forward to welcoming him into the team and benefiting from his contributions.”
For Doohan, the role offers a fresh opportunity to stay embedded in the F1 paddock while contributing to a team building toward the future. For Haas, it provides continuity and technical feedback as it finalises preparations for its 2026 challenger.
Like the rest of the grid, Haas is now focused on completing its build programme before heading to Bahrain for the first of two three-day pre-season tests, with the opening session scheduled to begin on February 11.
