Las Vegas GP early predictions – can anyone stop Norris in his pursuit of the WDC?

The Las Vegas Grand Prix returns with growing anticipation. The final street race of the season arrives at a tense moment in the championship. Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen remain the only drivers capable of winning the title. The midfield battle is close. The track layout invites chaos. Recent form suggests a tight fight at the front and a scramble for points behind.

The Track

The Las Vegas Strip Circuit is fast. Long straights dominate the layout. Heavy braking zones reward late commitment. Low grip makes tyre warm up difficult. The surface stays cold through the night. Drivers struggle for confidence early in stints. The circuit punishes mistakes, a small lock up or snap of oversteer can cost several positions.

Success in Las Vegas comes from balance. Cars need strong top speed for the straights and enough downforce for the slower corners. Teams must prepare for set up compromises, strategy opens more than usual because tyre life varies from lap to lap meaning drivers who adapt quickly gain an advantage.

Recent Form at the Front

Lando Norris arrives with championship momentum. His win in Brazil showed clean execution and strong race pace. He has been reliable for several rounds now with his qualifying form improving, he remains the most consistent of the title contenders.

Oscar Piastri sits 24pts behind Norris but has plenty to do to get himself back in the title fight, he has shown that the pressure might be too much for him to handle but we all know that he has the raw abaility to win. He will have to rely on a good qualifying session and race start in order to put pressure on Norris.

Max Verstappen remains dangerous with Red Bull supplying a new power unit in Brazil meaning he has a fresh engine with the speed to challenge the McLaren’s. Verstappen thrives at tracks where grip changes through the weekend. His strength in unpredictable races makes him a key threat.

Who Looks Strongest for Las Vegas

We expect Vegas to be a battle between the top four teams, McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari. Lats season it was Mercedes who showed their pace around the streets of Las Vegas but this year we think it’ll be slightly different, Red Bull, with Verstappen we expect to be the strongest on-track followed by the in-form Lando Norris and then Charles Leclerc of Ferrari will bounce back form his DNF in Brazil. However, almost any of the drivers in the top 4 teams are in play this weekend.

Early Prediction

Winner: Max Verstappen
With a fresh engine on a quick track we think Max will have the edge over the rest of the field.

Podium Prediction

1st – Max Verstappen

2nd – Lando Norris

3rd – Charles Leclerc

The Midfield Fight

The midfield battle for Las Vegas involves Racing Bulls, Haas, Aston Martin, Kick Sauber and Williams. These five teams sit close enough in performance that a small advantage in tyre warm up or straight line speed can decide who finishes in the points. Las Vegas often creates unusual results, so any of these teams can leave with something meaningful.

Racing Bulls enter with the strongest momentum of the group after a double points finish in Brazil. They’ll be looking to continue this run of form in Vegas and strengthen their hold on 6th place in the constructors championship.

Haas looks competitive on tracks with long straights. Their straight line performance is solid, and the team has delivered steady race pace across several recent rounds. Oliver Bearman keeps putting together outstanding performances with back-to-back top 6 finishes in Mexico and Brazil. Haas now sit 2 points behind Aston Martin and 12 points behind Racing Bulls in the championship but look like real contenders for 6th place.

Aston Martin hopes Las Vegas gives them a chance to reset. Fernando Alonso’s experience matters at street circuits with low grip. He reads evolving conditions better than most of the midfield. Lance Stroll needs a stable weekend to support the team’s points push. Their car lacks some rotation in slow corners, but clean execution keeps them in play.

Kick Sauber enters with a more challenging outlook. The car struggles on colder surfaces and loses grip in slow-speed sections. Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg both need strong qualifying to fight for points. If the race becomes messy or features multiple safety cars, they can benefit, but they start from a weaker baseline.

Midfield Points Prediction

The most likely point scorers from this group are:

  • Isack Hadjar

  • Oliver Bearman

  • Fernando Alonso

Racing Bulls look strongest. Haas sits close behind. Aston Martin depends on a clean run. Kick Sauber need circumstances to go their way.

What to Expect on Race Day

Las Vegas will test every driver. Grip shifts through the night. Drivers brake from high speeds into tight corners. Mistakes bring safety cars. Track evolution changes with temperature.

The top three enter with real pressure. A win for Norris strengthens his title lead. A win for Piastri keeps the fight alive. A win for Verstappen drags him back into contention.

The midfield will fight for every point. The gaps remain small. Overtaking is possible because of the long straights. Race rhythm matters as much as raw speed.

Final Thoughts

Las Vegas will play a major role in the final phase of the season. Norris enters as the favourite. Piastri and Verstappen stay close enough to challenge. The midfield remains one of the tightest in years. With low grip and a demanding layout, this race might shape the title more than expected.
